OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 in ICT
The OCR Cambridge Technical in ICT Level 3 will suit pupils who excel in coursework. There are no exams—it is 100% coursework and fully practical .
This course aims to develop skills in the use of office software as well as graphic design, web design, games programming and multimedia software. By completing this course you will gain excellent skills in a broad range of software. You will gain skills that are required in the 21st century and which will equip you for further education or the world of work.
Course Units - 3 at AS / 3 at A2
6 units must be completed to gain a subsidiary diploma which is the equivalent to one A level. This will be completed over the two years. There is no "AS" though each unit attracts UCAS points which are excepted at most universities. The course is similar to a BTEC in that pupils can achieve a Pass / Merit / Distinction / Distinction*.
The units studied are chosen by the teacher and are as follows:
- Unit 1: Communication and Employability Skills for IT
- Unit 2: Information Systems
- Unit 10: Developing Computer Game
- Unit 12: Website Production
- Unit 17: Interactive Media Authoring
- Unit 19: Spreadsheet Modelling
Applied ICT Entry Requirements
This qualification requires pupils to have:
7 GCSEs A*-C - a GCSE in ICT will be beneficial though not essential.

I completed the applied A level and went on to do the BIT course in Queens. I now work for First Derivatives in Newry. I have travelled the world as a result and am now on a management training course in London, all expenses paid!
