In 2021, St Louis students Mark McVeigh and Roise McQuaid embarked on work experience with Generation Innovation, a programme designed for ambitious, innovative young people interested in up-skilling for the jobs of the future.

Mark and Roise received ‘Design Thinking’ training over the course of 5 days in a facilitated virtual environment. They worked within a team made up of aspirational young leaders from across Northern Ireland, developing creative solutions to a business problem and pitching it to the partner company.

The digital project offered opportunity to enhance key skills such as communication, teamwork, creativity, problem solving and self-management and required a significant investment of time and energy. The students proved themselves to be forward thinking, proactive and enthusiastic participants who have built connections with business and identified themselves as ‘future leaders and innovators’.

Mr Martin, commended Roise and Mark for their enthusiastic engagement with experiences designed to develop skills in leadership, enterprise and innovation and he encouraged them to aim high and seek every opportunity to utilise their talents and realise their exceptional potential.
